The "Boring Software" manifesto

The Boring Software Manifesto calls for the use of more well-understood and mastered software and architectural patterns that are so boring that anyone can understand, develop and maintain them.

As software developers we are tired of the false claims made by evangelists of the latest and greatest technology. We will no longer confront them with their lack of understanding of computer science fundamentals, nor will we defend our lack of knowledge of their hyped and volatile technologies.

Why should one read manifestos?

Manifestos express the convictions, goals and intentions of their authors. Since authors usually have extensive experience in their field, they provide a good opportunity to engage with new and perhaps different ideas.

They are therefore an opportunity to reflect on one’s own views, regardless of whether one agrees with their point of view or not.
